Hunting bird in Chechogari Beel has averted due to strong action

Hunters trapped current net for hunting bird in Chechogari Beel on the east side of Sutia-Shrirampur road in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga. Both native and guest birds were being killed freely. It's a cruel activity.

A report by local journalists Md. Mukul, Al-Amin Molla and social activist Samuil Islam Ovi was posted on social media. This was instantly noticed by Shiplu Ahsan Habib, president of Bangladesh Wildlife and Nature Initiative  environmental organization, and he took the initiative in this regard. Later, Md. Rezaul Alam, Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forest Division, Kushtia looked into the matter seriously and asked the Jibannagar upazila forest officer to take immediate action. Three current nets were recovered from the spot in the evening on 10 December, 2025. The bird hunters were not found at the spot. Furthermore, it is known that people involved in such activities will be caught and punished.

Bird hunting disrupts the balance of the environment, as birds play an important role in pest control, pollination, seed dispersal and soil fertility. Hunting leads to the extinction of many species, the increase in the number of pests that harm farmers, the reduction of biodiversity and the increase in the impact of climate change, which disrupts the natural order of the ecosystem.

Birds are an essential part of our nature. They not only enhance the beauty of the environment but also play an important role in maintaining the balance of the environment. But due to the ignorance and greed of some people, the natural life of birds is under threat in many places. People are hunting birds for entertainment or for sale. Therefore, concerted action is needed to stop bird hunting. Severe punishment should be kept for the cruel bird hunters.
